Dog & Cat Body Condition Score Guide
Understand a 1–9 dog or cat body condition score and why weight alone is not an ideal-weight diagnosis.
About this tool
Body condition scoring considers fat cover, the waist and how easily ribs can be felt. It is different from a scale reading: two animals at the same weight may have very different body compositions. Use the tool to learn what a score may mean and discuss observations with your veterinarian.
